SAVE OUR SCHOOLS

Matt Watson from the InTV team captured the feelings of Herefordshire people when they marched through the city this week

An estimated 5000 schoolchildren, parents, teachers and other members of the rural community marched on Hereford city centre yesterday, in protest at the Local Authority’s proposals that would see 37 rural schools closed or amalgamated.

The march was as much about saving rural communities as it was about the schools

HACS (Herefordshire Against Closing Schools), declared that the march was as much about saving rural communities as it was about the schools themselves, as without schools, communities would die. Afterwards, a delegation from the rally were invited to meet with Herefordshire Council leaders to discuss the way forward.
