Face to Face with Facebook
Have a look at our new video 'Face to Face' presented by Lizzi Armstrong. It’s all about the pros and cons of Social networking and includes some great tips on using the privacy settings on Facebook.
Youth Times has been involved in a CMA/Ofcom (Comunity Media Association/Office of Commuications) project entitled Your Media, Your Tools. The project was delivered by the CMA and sponsored by Ofcom between January and March 2009. The aim of the project is to raise critical awareness of the media both for individual participants and the wider community. This project concentrates on enhancing people’s ability to access and understand media.
InSITE presenter, Lizzi Armstrong led this project with the help of Youth Media Trainee Ruben Robinson, who is sponsored by the Rank Foundation.
The Rural Media Company was one of sixteen organisations involved including community television operators and internet-based organisations. All organisations involved will also distribute the content produced on their own and the CMA’s websites. The organisations selected will come from all the UK nations, covering both urban and rural populations.
Eleven people attended a training workshop in Hereford on 19th February run by Nicky from The Community Media Association. Following this training session, a subject was agreed for a 10 min video to be made by the Youth Times team. Given that Rural Media’s Youth Times project is delivering this programme using the internet platform www.insitemag.net the subject chosen was most relevant to young people.
Our video is based upon online Social Networking, particularly Facebook: Safety Online – how to use this website with regard to personal privacy Addiction to using FaceBook – pros and cons of using this type of social networking
We produced this short video (5 – 10mins) using vox pops with young people in Hereford together with an explaination of how to set up and use FaceBook with emphasis on online privacy and awareness of being safe, whilst having fun commuicating on the world wide web.
